Since I was a kid, I enjoyed sitting at boats. My first long boat trip was Travemünde to Trelleborg, and I was 8 years old. With this journey began a lifelong love affair with the sea. For quite some time that I dreamed about how becoming a radio in a boat operator. Each journey an adventure, new places to explore, sailing under a sky night velvet with stars so bright and so close that you think can touch you them.
Well, not all the dreams become realidad.I became a travel agent and diver diving instead and my hobby to my work (or is unlike around – never I am sure), I could do my fair share of explore, liveaboard as well as diving to some of the best boats in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia Australia.
My first “liveaboard” was during my PADI Open Water.Dos nights onboard ‘Scubapro’ Cairns. Sitting on the deck after dusk, chatting with new found friends, admiring the Southern Cross, observation of meteors make their journey on the night of the unknown in the unknown – absolutely glorious sky stars!
I have been in many different, in many parts of the world liveaboards since that first liveaboard experience. Quality boats differs, but one thing all these trips had in common was the sense of adventure, the anticipation of the incredible diving in the next few days (and nights).
Be a person of early in the morning, I absolutely love dives in the early morning. The underwater world seems even more mysterious of light illuminates every corner and corner you can see a shift change, where during the day fish start to arrive, but still stalks the night shift, not wanting to leave yet. There are always lots of underwater activity early in the morning, take a look, the magic experience. After diving for around an hour, the stomach starts to remind you that have not had breakfast yet, and begin to imagine the smell of crispy fried Bacon and flavor of fresh fruit. Time to head back, but don’t forget your safety stop!
Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands. Although there is a lot of land base of diving in the offer, some of the best diving destinations can only be reached by liveaboard.Si you diving in North Sulawesi, Raja Ampat, the character or the Komodo Marine Park, one thing is certain: there will be more fish than divers in the water. One of the highlights for me was to see a dugong (Manatee) when diving around of the Banda Islands.I was on a journey that began in Sorong Irian Jaya, well known by divers as starting point for some amazing diving in Raja Ampat, finished in Ambon.En another trip, diving in Komodo, Marine Park and take a few hours out of diving, hiking in the island of Komodo, home to a cocktail hour Komodo.Disfrutando Dragon and a barbecue at Island, watching the Sun in an impressive color swatch set, there was a place where I rather had – a perfect for a perfect day end.
Liveaboard diving is all about adventure, exploration of the unknown, diving in places that cannot be achieved by day trippers, meet new people or to update with old friends.Dive, eat, dive, eat, dive, eat – has a shower. Finally collapsing on your comfortable bed, sleeping for the soft sound of waves to be lapping against the hull.
Ready yet – is your packed diving equipment?
